WDO Termite Inspection

WDO Inspection

Studies show that termites and other wood-devouring organisms cause more than $5 billion in property damage each year. Often known as “silent-killers”, these pests have the ability to chew through wood, flooring, and even wallpaper before they’re ever detected.

Due to this, the bank, mortgage company, or guarantor will likely require you to obtain a WDO (“wood-destroying organism”) inspection prior to obtaining a mortgage or mortgage guarantee to finance the purchase of a home. During a WDO inspection, an inspector looks for evidence of infestation by termites or other wood-destroying pests, as well as evidence of past infestations, conditions conducive to infestation, and evidence of past treatments.

Your inspector will also point out conditions that could lead to a future termite infestation or elongate a current termite infestation. This could include firewood a stored against the home, mulching materials, or deteriorated wood in the home’s proximity.

Our team at BW Home Inspections has great experience with WDO inspections and holds the knowledge necessary to detect any wood-destroying organisms in your future home. When you work with our team at BW Home Inspections, we will also provide you with the necessary next-steps if your home has been or is infested.
